Per La Gloria
Translation
For the glory of adoring you
I want to love you,
O dear eyes.
Loving I will suffer,
Yet always I will love you,
Yes, yes, in my suffering,
I will suffer,
I will love you,
Dear eyes.
Once a Canadian lad, banished from his home,
Traveled, crying, through foreign lands.
A sad and thoughtful day, sitting at the edge of the waves
To the fleeting current, he addresses these words:
If you see my country, my unhappy country
Go tell my friends that I remember them
O days so full of charms you are gone
And my homeland, alas, I will no longer see!
No; but, as I expire, O my dear Canada,
My dying look Will turn towards you.
Israel and Torah and the Holy One
Blessed be He – are one.
The Torah is Light – hallelujah!
sung in Haitian Creole.
Wangolo, there you go. When will you come to me? Things are changing.” Jesus Bleibet Meine Freude
Jesus remains my joy,
the comfort and life-blood of my heart;
Jesus shall defend from all sorrow,
He is the strength of my life,
the desire and sun of my eyes,
My soul’s treasure and wonder;
therefore I will not let Jesus
out of my heart and sight.
“You are old, Father William,” the young man said
“And your hair has become very white
And yet you incessantly stand on your head
Do you think, at your age, it is right?”
“In my youth,” Father William replied to his son
“I feared it might injure the brain
But now that I’m perfectly sure I have none
Why, I do it again and again
“You are old,” said the youth, “and your jaws are too weak
For anything tougher than suet
Yet you finish the goose, with the bones and the beak
Pray, how did you manage to do it?”
“In my youth,” said his father, “I took to the law
And argued each case with my wife
And the muscular strength which it gave to my jaw
Has lasted the rest of my life
Domine Ad Adjuvandum Me
O Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory be the the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Alleluia.
